2/5/06: Here are some pictures of Secret just before her puppies were born.
2/9/06: There were 7 puppies born, 6 girls and 1 boy. Some pictures here on their birthday. And a movie.
2/10/06: Day 1
2/11/06: Day 2
2/12/06: Tragedy strikes. We lose Lavender girl. We are devastated. She looked very nice. A couple of pictures after much sadness.
2/13/06: We take extra time to cuddle with the ones we have. Some pictures from day 4. The puppies are gaining weight rapidly and are becoming very mobile.
2/16/06: Day 7. And a movie of the puppies nursing.
2/17/06: Day 8. And a movie of the puppies nursing a little more vigorously.
2/18/06: Day 9.
2/19/06: Day 10. Mr. D baths in the sunlight with the puppies. And a movie of Red boy dreaming on his back.
2/21/06: Day 12.
2/24/06: Day 15.
2/25/06: Day 16. And a movie. The past few days have been a really dramatic transformation. Their eyes all opened within 2 days of each other and they started walking on their legs. They've become quite mobile. In addition, they've started playing with toys and with each other. This is when individual personalities start to develop.
2/28/06: Day 19.
3/1/06: Day 20.
3/3/06: Day 22. First solid food today. Somehow, they "get it" pretty quick. We've been watching these babies grow up steadily and we've come to the conclusion that Golden Retriever puppies are cuter than Flat-Coat puppies. Who would have thought?
Oh - and Chaos earned his championship today with Tonya in Arizona. How cool is that?
3/5/06: Day 24.
3/14/06: Day 33. We have some guests. The puppies have a lot of energy now. It won't be long before they escape the whelping box.
4/2/06: Well, we haven't taken too many pictures for a little bit, so to make up for it, each puppy got his or her own photo session. Green Girl, Purple Girl, Teal Girl, Orange Girl, Pink Girl, Red Boy. And after we were all done with that, here are some pictures of them playing in the yard.
4/5/06: 8 weeks old. Well, really 7 weeks 6 days. Jennifer Gabriel is kind enough to come by to help evaluate the litter: Green Girl, Purple Girl, Teal Girl, Orange Girl, Pink Girl, Red Boy.
4/8/06: Pink girl (now named Anegi) heads off to her new home in Portland, OR with Steve, Sara, Matthew, and Zachary.
4/12/06: Red boy heads off to his new home in Seattle with Elise.
4/14/06: Teal girl heads off to her new home in California with Suzanne. She's co-owned by Wendy and Jan, who own Robin, Secret's mother.
4/28/06: Green girl goes to her new home on Bainbridge Island with Gary and Sylvia and Mattie (the GR).
5/2/06: Purple girl goes to her new home near Friday Harbor in the San Joan Islands with Roger and Michelle.
5/18/06: We've decided that Orange girl will be named Laurel, or more officially, Gondolin's Laurelin
